On the afternoon of February 1, 2023, Liu Mingjun, an elderly man who lives in the Zhenxin community of Rudong Economic Development Zone, accidentally fell into the Tongyang River with his e-bike. Xu Jun, a sanitation worker from urban transfer station of Rudong Tianheng, was on the roadside shoveling floating mud. He heard the plunk and instantly rushed to the riverside to check the situation.
Xu Jun found Liu but because the riverbank slope was muddy and slippery, he couldn’t pull him up by himself. After making sure Liu was not in life-threatening situation, he went to call more help. Finally, Yu Junru and Wu Jianxiang helped Xu tied the rope to Liu’s e-bike and saved him from drowning.
After being rescued, Liu was freezing and shivering. So the three workers took him to where they worked, turned on the air conditioner, and provided dry clothes for Liu. They also sent Liu’s e-bike to the repair store. Liu was greatly moved and expressed his gratitude to the trio of heroes.
